It’s Upfronts week and CBS has officially released their Fall 2012 schedule: Unfortunately CSI: Miami, Rob, Unforgettable, and NYC 22 have all been canceled, but Person of Interest, 2 Broke Girls, and Two and a Half Men have been renewed. In the new shows department, Partners is the only new comedy coming to CBS this fall, but they’re picking up 3 dramas: Vegas, Made in Jersey, and the Sherlock themed ‘Elementary’. FOX’s Tuesday nights get a little more adorkable! Is “The Mindy Project” FOX’s New New Girl? I’ve got the scoop coming up on The Buzz.
Tuesday nights on FOX are all about quirky, adorkable characters and FOX’s new comedy series The Mindy Project  appears to be know exception. Mindy Kaling’s new rom-com will follow up New Girl, this Fall, on Tuesday nights and stars Kaling as a 30-something single gal looking for love while trying to stay on top of her demanding career as an OB/GYN. It’s Upfronts week and ABC has officially released their Fall 2012 schedule: The new comedies are Family Tools, The Neighbors, Malibu Country, and How to Live with your parents (for the rest of your life). Take note that both Happy Endings and Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 were renewed and moved to Tuesday. And as For Dramas: new ones include Nashville, Last Resort, and 666 Park Avenue, plus ABC has titled Sunday night’s “The Battle between Good and Evil” because Revenge has moved to Desperate Housewives‘ former spot, Sundays at 9, after all-new episodes of Once Upon A Time at 8. Freaky Friday comes to Glee, and I’m not just talking about Lindsay Lohan. I’m Alex and my super-sized review of Glee’s back-to-back episodes is coming up, so if you haven’t seen ‘Props’ and ‘Nationals,’ this is your official spoiler alert.
So Glee clearly forgot that they’ve kinda ignored Tina all season, so yay for throwing in a Tina-centric episode at the last minute… even if it was still all about Rachel.
The freaky friday-style injury sequence was a cute end-of-season gimmick, yet I kinda feel like it could have easily been avoided if Tina had been paying attention to Quinn’s nonstop preaching about the dangers of texting while walking. Just saying. Speaking of Quinn, she gets the award for being the best body-switcher, as a very convincing Sugar. Blaine earns a close second as Puck.. and Tina would have been a good Rachel – her stomach-grabbing was spot-on, but her singing faces lacked that Rachel-esque “I’m going into labor” pained look.
Of course, it wasn’t all fun & games – this episode also had plenty serious Coach Bieste and Puck moments. But I’m confused – where do Cooter and that jerk with the flaming red mullet get the balls to pick on the show’s biggest bad-asses? And is it selfish of me that I kinda still want Puck to flunk so that he and Coach Bieste can do more Taylor Swift covers next season?
And then there’s Nationals. THREE years in the making… and New Directions finally wins Nationals. And somehow.. it just wasn’t as satisfying as I thought it would be. Maybe it was because I thought Vocal Adrenaline truly was better… or maybe it’s because Lindsay Lohan was largely responsible for their win. Don’t get me wrong – I’m happy for the New Directions, and I’m glad Finn didn’t lose 500 bucks. But is it weird that I was more excited that Mr. Schue and Emma finally got it on for the first time?
And let’s not forget… did I hear a little foreshadowing in that Vocal Adrenaline dressing room? Unique might have to transfer schools next year?? Hint hint, wink wink. Yes that was a wink, not a seizure.
I will say this… the glee club returning to McKinley and getting “slushied” with celebratory confetti was super corny but super adorable. And is it just me or was their performance at Mr. Schuester’s Teacher of the Year ceremony better than their Nationals performance. I mean, maybe “We are the Champions” would have been a cocky song choice… but they were gonna win anyway, right? Anyway – do you think New Directions deserved the big win after 3 years? Gossip Girl gets back to the basics. The show’s executive producer teases final season plans coming up on The Buzz.
Gossip Girl’s Executive producer Stephanie Savage revealed to the Hollywood Reporter that the show’s shortened 6th and final season will focus on “core characters”. She said, “The gang that you see in the final act [of the fifth season] will be our main players.” Savage also teased that she knows a lot about how the show will end, but refused to confirm if the writers have already devised the show’s conclusion. A final decision on the episode count for the 6th season is yet to be made, but Savage said it’s looking like 10 episodes and a retrospective. Terminator 3 star is missing, Whoa! Joey Lawrence is doing what? and will J.Lo be back on Idol next season? This is Rachel and I’ve got the details in today’s Reel TV news.
TMZ is reporting that Terminator 3 star Nick Stahl is missing. His wife reported this to the LAPD on Monday morning and People has confirmed. The actor has recently been seen in episodes of Body of Proof and House of Lies. We hope he is found safely.
Actor Joey Lawrence has inked a limited engagement deal with Chippendales in Las Vegas. TMZ is reporting that he will “sing, dance…the whole nine yards”. No word on how much the gig is paying. Tell us, do you want to see Lawrence strip down?
Jennifer Lopez revealed on Tuesday’s Ellen Degeneres show that she doesn’t know if she’ll be back as an Idol judge next season. Lopez says she enjoys the job but that “I miss doing other things. Now that How I Met Your Mother‘s 7th season has wrapped up, we’re all dying to know what we can expect from Season 8, so here are some teasers without big spoilers! Co-creator and show runner Craig Thomas revealed to TV Guide that the premiere will pick up on the same day in May on which most of the finale took place. He also said it “had to be her,” when asked about the revelation of Barney’s future bride, and that it was decided years ago who it would be. Also, they have many big moments in Season 8 already plotted out, though they are waiting on negotiations with the actors to see if Season 8 will be the final season or not. FOX has unveiled its 2012 Fall TV lineup. I’m Alex and I’ve got your scoop on what’s returning, what’s new, and what’s been given the axe, coming up on the Buzz.
Its network upfronts week, and Fox has plenty of changes in store for its Fall 2012 season. Canceled shows include Breaking In, I Hate My Teenage Daughter, Alcatraz, The Finder, and Terra Nova, which leaves room for some new series to swoop in this fall. Make way for medical/slash gangster drama The Mob Doctor, new comedy Ben & Kate, and Mindy Kaling’s new series, The Mindy Project. As for returning shows, Fringe will officially be ending with a 13-episode final season, Glee is moving to Thursday nights, and of course, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato stopped by to “officially” announce their X Factor judging roles. Revenge Moves to a new night and Dancing with the Stars All Stars Season is a Go! I’m Heather and it’s all coming up in today’s Reel TV News.
ABC announced the Network’s new lineup for Fall this morning. Most Notably, Revenge will be taking over Desperate Housewives slot on Sundays at 9pm. Happy Endings and Don’t Trust the B—- In Apartment 23 are also moving nights to Tuesday following the Dancing with the stars Result Show.
And speaking of Dancing with the Stars, ABC’s President confirmed this morning that Dancing with the Stars is all set to debut their first all-star edition this fall. Desperate Housewives may have just concluded 8 drama-filled seasons, but the tension doesn’t end there. I’m Alex and I’ve got the scoop on a potential cast feud, coming up on The Buzz.

It’s Upfronts week and NBC has officially renewed Fashion Star, The Office, Parks & Recreations, Whitney, and Smash. Now, this is where it gets confusing: Community & Up All Night are getting 13 episodes – which doesn’t mean they’re ending – but 30 Rock was also renewed for 13 episodes and it IS going into it’s final season! Unfortunately: Awake, Are You There Chelsea, and Harry’s Law have been canceled. But new shows are coming to the Peacock this Fall including: Revolution, The New Normal, Animal Practice, Go On, Guys with Kids, and Chicago Fire. What shows are you most looking forward to? An Avengers update and the Glee shake-up! I’m Yael and this is Reel TV News.
Not only did The Avengers stay on top over the weekend, earning another 100 Million Dollars, but actor Chris Hemsworth – aka THOR – welcomed a daughter. Sounds like it was a good weekend to be an Avenger. 
The networks are revealing next year’s line-up this week, and the biggest shocker, so far, is that FOX is moving Glee to Thursday nights at 9!!! According to FOX’s president this new time slot is so that Tuesday’s can be a comedy block, and Glee will “benefit from a strong lead in” from the X Factor. Also, Sarah Jessica Parker & Kate Hudson are joining the cast – SJP for at least 1 episode and Kate for 7. Jesse Tyler Ferguson talks Obama and Modern Family stereotypes coming up on The BUZZ.
Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson is voicing his support for President Obama’s recent comments supporting gay marriage. The ModFam star revealed to The Daily Caller that he supported Obama and was “very encouraged” by the President’s statements. Grey’s Anatomy stars sign on for more doctor drama, the MTV Movie Awards gets a host, and FOX pulls the plug on several shows. I’m Alex and I’ve got the scoop in today’s Reel TV News.
Grey’s Anatomy fans can finally rest easy. Deadline reports that Patrick Dempsey, Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens Jr have all signed on additional 2-year deals. ABC has still not announced if they’re officially renewing the show or not, but we’re willing to bet that next week’s season finale will not be a series finale.
MTV has announced that they’ve granted the coveted hosting gig for their 2012 Movie Awards to none other than Russell Brand. This is his first time hosting the show, though he has already hosted the MTV Video Music Awards twice. Look out for plenty of too-soon Katy Perry jokes when the awards show airs on Sunday June 3rd.
Although network upfronts aren’t until next week, FOX is getting a head start on giving the axe to several of its series. FOX announced yesterday that none other than Rihanna will perform new single “Where Have You Been” during the May 23rd, 2 hour, 11th season finale. Rihanna has performed on Idol twice previously. Excited to see her again?
